GeoRSS and XML Feeds

Learn more about GeoRSS on the Internet at georss.org.

Yourmap can act as a RSS reader and display GeoRSS feeds on the map.  If the feed contains RSS media (used by Yahoo), thumbnails will be displayed, otherwise, links will be displayed.  Yourmap also reads GPX (GPS exchange) and LOC (Geocaching.com) files.

Display GeoRSS feeds on Yourmap using one of the following methods:
  • Drag/Drop a GeoRSS, GPX or LOC URL or a local file (.rss, .xml, .gpx, .loc) onto the Yourmap Dropzone.  This will open the feed's locations in the current Yourmap viewer.
  • Select one of the GeoRSS Feeds from the Links menu.  These will open a new Yourmap Viewer window with the feed's locations.
  • Select one of the GeoRSS Feeds from the Context Menu.  This will open the feed's locations in the current Yourmap viewer.  These use a "GeoRSS=h" conext menu URL.
  • Start Yourmap with a GeoRSS Feed URL or local file.  For example:

      A Windows shortcut w/URL:  yourmap.exe http://www.searchmymap.com/yourmap/allgeocoded.php?output=rss20
      A Windows shortcut w/local file:  yourmap.exe c:\my documents\georssfile.rss

      An Internet URL:
        http://www.yourmap.com/yourmap.php?Command=http://www.searchmymap.com/yourmap/allgeocoded.php?output=rss20
